The Enola Gay was a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber used in the Bombing of Hiroshima. It's pilot, 30 year old Paul Tibbets, along with 8 other men flew the Enola Gay on its first nuclear bombing, and one of the last ever nuclear bombings. The rest of the crew was; Pvt. 1st class Nelson, Sgt. Shumard, Staff Sgt. Duzenbury, Sgt. Stiborik, Staff Sgt. Caron, Major ferebee, Captain Lewis, and Captain Van Kirk. The Enola Gay crew dropped "little boy" on Hiroshima, it did not however drop "fat man" on Nagasaki, although it was another B-29 Boeing Superfortress bomber that did so, three days after the Enola Gay. These planes today, The Enola Gay especially, are miniature museums for tourists, such as in the Smoithsonian. It is a piece of history that the American nation can forever cherish.
